As co-founder and creative director of UAP (Urban Art Projects), Daniel Tobin has worked on a diverse range of public projects and public art master plans, including Education City, Qatar; Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi, and King Abdullah University of Science & Technology, Saudi Arabia. He has worked on public commissions with artists Ai Weiwei, Carsten Höller, Sui Jianguo, Ned Kahn, Lindy Lee, Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle, Sopheap Pich, Arne Quinze, and Nike Savvas; most recently working with London-based artist Idris Khan in creating an award-winning memorial in Abu Dhabi.  

Mr. Tobin established UAP’s artist edition program which facilitates and funds the production of new works for artists, including Penny Byrne’s seminal “Felled,” and Reko Rennie’s “Regalia” for the 2015 Venice Biennale in the Palazzo Mora.

With Mr. Tobin’s creative leadership, UAP has collaborated with architects Gehry Partners for the University of Technology Sydney Business School; Snøhetta for the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; Ralph Appelbaum Associates for the ExxonMobil corporate headquarters, Houston, and Kohn Pedersen Fox for Hudson Yards in New York City.

His artwork “Gathered Together” has been commissioned by the West Hollywood Foundation as the concept underpinning the creation of a National AIDS Monument to be built in 2019.

A creative industries outstanding alumnus of the Queensland University of Technology, Mr. Tobin was a speaker at the 2015 American Institute of Architects National Convention in Atlanta, a panelist at the 2015 Global Cities at the Crossroads Symposium in New York and at the International New York Times’ Art for Tomorrow in Doha. Australian by birth, he has lived and worked in the United States, the Middle East and China. He currently shares his time between Brisbane, New York and Shanghai.
