Sam Rauch is a New York-based contemporary art professional with extensive experience realizing ambitious exhibitions in both the public and institutional realms, currently serving as the Director of Special Projects at Public Art Fund.  Since 2007, he has managed the development and implementation of dozens of New York City’s most significant public art projects, including major commissions by Antony Gormley, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Jessica Stockholder, Jeppe Hein, Monika Sosnowska, Thomas Schutte, Danh Vo, Katharina Grosse, Ugo Rondinone, and most recently, Good Fences Make Good Neighbors, an unprecedented 300+ site citywide exhibition by celebrated Chinese artist and human rights activist Ai Weiwei. Prior to his current role at Public Art Fund, he served as the Director of Exhibitions Management at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, where he oversaw the institution’s Exhibitions Department and organized a number of record-breaking exhibitions, including Pipilotti Rist: Pixel Forest, Anri Sala: Answer Me, Jim Shaw: The End Is Here, and The Keeper.  

A veteran of nonprofit public/private partnerships, Rauch's experience connecting the cultural, corporate and civic communities in New York City has enabled him to work successfully to advance the mission of Public Art Fund, an organization founded in 1977 to bring dynamic contemporary art to a broad audience in New York City and beyond by mounting ambitious free exhibitions of international scope and impact that offer the public powerful experiences with art and the urban environment.
