The Rosewood Abu Dhabi Blends Eastern and western contemporary works of art and showcases over 108 pieces of local, regional and international artists

Roland Duerr started his hospitality career as part of a six-month internship, in a gourmet restaurant in a traditional Swiss family-owned hotel. The experience very much grounded his hospitality career. About one year after graduating from Institut Hotelier Cesar Ritz in Switzerland, with an award for high academic achievement, Roland professional life started at one of Switzerland’s best hotels, the Relais & Châteaux hotel Le Vieux Manoir on Lake Murten, the journey continued at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai, where Roland was appointed restaurant manager at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai. Duerr then moved to Berlin to work at the Four Seasons Berlin and then back to Dubai where he worked for 7 years at Burj Al Arab.

In 2011 Roland Duerr transferred to New York as Executive Assistant Manager for Food & Beverage of Jumeirah Essex House. The destiny of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts and a living Canvas philosophy started in 2012 where Roland was appointed Hotel Manager at iconic The Carlyle one of Rosewood’s Landmark properties, 3 years Abu Dhabi called and Duerr was appointed Managing Director of Rosewood Abu Dhabi which currently hosts 108 artworks.
